Active voice is a sentence where the subject of the sentence performs the action. A sentence written in the passive voice the subject receives the action. When writing essays try to use the active voice as much as possible. When we use the passive voice, sentences often use far more words than needed.
-
Example of active voice: The snake bit the woman.
-
Example of passive voice: The woman was bitten by a snake.
Active voice sentences require fewer words to communicate the same ideas as the passive voice versions.
