Conjunctions are words that link other words, phrases or clauses together. Conjunctions allow you to form complex sentences instead of writing smaller shorter multiple sentences. Words like but and yet are common conjunctions. I like bunting and batting, but I don't like to run the base. I am tired, yet continue on. Use commas to separate independent clauses when they are joined by any of these coordinating conjunctions ( and, but, for, or, nor, so, yet). Many of us were taught in school that you cannot begin a sentence with a conjunction.
