Differences
in Digestion in Different
Organisms
Termite: termites have microorganisms in their
digestive track that help them break down pieces of wood. All
termites contain protozoans in their stomachs. Source: wiki

Amoeba: The amoeba surrounds the food with
pseudopods and forms of food vacuole , then digests the food with
digestive enzyme's. Source : Wiki answers.com
Bird: birds have a two-part stomach a glandular
and a muscular portion. Hydrochloric acid and digestive &'s are
in the first part and breakdown food then food goes into the second
part. Called the gizzard The gizzard performs the same function as
teeth in mammals, grinding and disassembling the food, the gizzard
contains sand grains or small rocks to aid in the grinding process.

Earthworm: The earthworm sucks in soil
containing food, the food particles and soil go through a long
esophagus into an organ called a crop where it is stored temporarily
that it is forced into the gizzard that contracts and expands
causing grains of sand and food, rub together. Enzymes chemically
break down the food then digested food is absorbed by the blood.

Cow: A cows food is called cud and is
regurgitated and partially digested food. Cows eat. This cud for
many hours in the day. Cows have four digestive compartments. The
rumen holds up to 50 gallons of partially digested food. This is
where cud comes from. There's good bacteria that helps digest the
cows food and provides protein. The reticulum is called the hardware
stomach because if cows accidentally eat hardware like fencing, it
will latch on here often causing no damage, then the food goes to
the omasum , which is like a filter, then finally the abomasums ,
which is like human stomach. Source: FDA.gov
Humans: food goes down your esophagus and lands
in your stomach, where it gets mixed with gastric juices. The
gastric juices. Write down the food and start to release nutrients.
The carbohydrates, protein and fat in your foods must be in their
smallest forms to be used by each cell. The final stage in digestion
occurs in small intestine. Digested food from the stomach is pumped
into the small intestine, which gets flooded with fluid and enzymes
from the liver and the pancreas. Those chemicals help break down the
molecules from the digesting food into smaller components. The
smallest forms of the nutrients pass to the walls of the small
intestine and are absorbed in the bloodstream. Source: kids
