The Abacus is a calculating tool often used in mathematics. The Abacus been used since ancient times and is still in use today. The Abacus consists of a number of rows of movable beads or other small objects which represents digits or numbers.

Native Americans used abacuses in ancient times. Aztecs used an abacus called a NEPOHUALTZINTZIN. This abacus had a 5 digit base-20 system.

Although today calculators  are more commonly  used in mathematics abacuses remain in use in some countries.
