Robots are essentially machines that are programmable by computers capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically. Robotics is a branch of technology that deals with design and construction of robots as well as the computer systems that control them. Robots have replaced humans in many dangerous tasks where humans may be hurt. Sometimes robots are just the right fit if a human is simply to large or small for the project that needs to be done. When Robots replace workers in increasing number of functions and takes jobs it is called technological unemployment. People disagree on what quantifies as a robot but in general a robot must operate autonomously, move around, manipulate their environment and exhibit intelligent behavior.
